Call Centre Nights



"Thank you for calling", is the constant refrain
Each call is answered with alacrity so plain.
Thick and fast come the queries without respite
As cops of coffee help to make it thru' the night.

Some cannot cope and succumb to the pressure
Preferring to opt out and seek another pasture.
Others leave to join a different company
Which is willing to offer them even more money.

The weekends are awaited with anticipation
When all can make merry without exception.
The pubs and discos are a great attraction
For others studies are a greater compulsion.

It's our knowledge and communication skill
That lifts our nation above the run of the mill.
Foreign companies prefer to leave their shore
For here in service and returns they get more.

Plassey and the Indian banker:

JAGAT SETH The battle of Plassey was fought on 23 rd June 1757. It is one of the most significant battles in Indian history, as it led to the eclipse of Muslim power in India and the establishment of the British Empire in the subcontinent. One of the most famous Indian bankers of all time is Jagat Seth, who conspired against Siraj-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Bengal, in the Battle of Plassey. That gave the East India Company its first decisive victory in India and eventually helped establish its rule over the entire subcontinent. Various travellers of that time wrote about Jagat Seth's enormous wealth (one traveller described him as "the greatest banker in the known world"). The name Jagat Seth itself means banker to the world. The house of Jagat Seth came to achieve a reputation akin to that of the Rothschilds. Isaac Asimov once said, "There is a rumor in America that there are two intelligent races on earth: Humans and Hungarians”. “The Martians of Budapest”, sometimes simply “The Martians” is a colloquial term used to describe a group of prominent Hungarian physicists and mathematicians who emigrated to the United States following the Great Purge of 1933.
